Shit, I'm gonna have to cook.

I've discovered a very simple, but still painful fact - just about every gorram snack ever has bread of some sort in it. Seriously. I went to epicurious.com, which normally, will totally have my back for any recipie I'm looking for - I did a search where the only perameters were "snack" & "low carb".

I got two results - celery, and crispy salami slices. Dude, I could have figured that out on my own, thanks.
-------------

Meanwhile this morning's practice sucked ass - it was raining, there was a motherfucker of a current, there were six of us in the boat, and I could not catch D's pace for the life of me. I think I had first day back after a week off broken-ness or something.

But hey, since it's a) monday & b) I don't have class for the next six weeks, anyone wanna guess what I'm doing tonight? Yes my friends, that would be me going to sculling.
-------------

and for those of you wondering - yesterday? I got my first dollar. ;)

Eliminating the bread is SO VERY HARD.

I had a muffin this morning, since I was running behind and didn't have time to make myself toast with my Ezekiel bread. *sigh*

I need to TAKE CHARGE, dammit!

I'm all behind your 6 week experiment, but I do want to say one thing: watch your moods as you cut out carbs (or is it just bread?).

Because they've actually shown that low/no carb diets can cause depression-style symptoms. And that would be sort of counter productive.... And with all the rowing, too, you need sufficient energy sources.

But other ideas:

trail mix - make it yourself with nuts (pref unroasted because therefore not coasted in fat), seeds, dried fruit.... Is yummy and portable.

Add peanut butter to that celerey. Or cheese whiz. Peanut butter on apples is also REALLY yummy....

nut and seed bars are available at the health food store -- in fact, I think there is a power bar that is TASTY and sans carbs - q bars or soemthing. they have a cranberry flavor, and a lemon flavor.

Yeah, I already substituted the normal breakfast of one (or two, depending on how ravenous I am in the morning after a practice) bagel(s) for a big ol' thing for dried fruit.

But I do have to buy some peanut butter...mmmm...peanut butter.

That was me, btw.

I mean really, who else would be missing peanut butter, but still...

if you saw my last post Melly, I can bribe you with gourmet brownies should you come to LA in Feb...think about it...*g* I'll also make you spinach & feta pizza bread...
(Of course I'm not above bribery - hullo, I'm bribing myself right now!)

Sure, bribe me with things I like that I'm not supposed to eat. Meanie!

I told ya, babe. It will all depend on when the bigger raise kicks in...

oh I know about the raise, I just like to stack things in my favor, so that if it happens, there's an avalanche of factors. 'cause I'm fun like that. ;)

and why on earth couldn't you have brownies? Never at any point did my brownies have a face!
(unless you know something about brownies I don't, in which case, I'd love to hear that up front, thankyou)

well, Brownies usually have milk/cream/butter in them. Which bes a no-no for the vegan set.

ah...well then, no brownies for you. BUT I can take melly to trader joe's to get her a vegan chocolate bar instead. ;)

It's also the flour - which is most likely wheat, and refined/processed and shite. Which I'm really not supposed to be eating. *sigh*

What I'm really supposed to be eating is more akin to a raw food diet than anything else. But that ain't likely to happen any time soon - mainly because I'm inherently lazy when it comes to preparing my lunches and it's very hard to find lunches around here that are wheat free, raw, etc that aren't salads composed almost entirely of iceberg lettuce. And Cultures has stopped serving my favouritest wildrice with broccoli salad.

Blar.
